Post-Surgery at G & G Ussery's house

On Sunday, we decided that we wanted to leave the hospital and get Jackson unhooked from all of those machines. However, we were a little nervous to drive all the way back to La Grande - a 4 1/2-hour drive, not knowing how that first night would go. So, we decided to spend the night at Parker's parents' house - just 20 minutes from the hospital. Everything went well and we were beyond ready to be back home in our own beds.

Post-Surgery, Recovering at the Hospital

We found out just shy of 3 weeks old, that Jackson had Pyloric Stenosis, just like his Daddy. If you are interested in the specifics, look it up. Basically, we knew because he was projectile vomiting and absolutely could not keep anything down, but it wasn't old milk. It was quite an ordeal. They immediately sent us to Portland's Children's Hospital called Doernbecker. They are amazing! We arrived late afternoon on Friday and he went in for surgery early Saturday morning (through his tummy - to the pyloric valve, which is the valve that is supposed to open after your food is done digesting to let it out of the stomach). Everything went well, but it was nerve-racking, knowing that our perfect little baby was going to be put "under" and be cut open... and he would have his first scar... just like his Daddy. Everything went so well. They said that Jackson lost very little blood and that they were extremely pleased with the surgery and his recovery. Poor little boy just slept and slept after surgery and then cried when he woke up because of discomfort. We could hardly wait to leave the hospital so that we could hold him again without a million cords attached to him!

Post-Surgery, the Day of Surgery

Jackson's surgery went well. Here are some pictures of Jackson and his visitors at the hospital. Grandma & Grandpa Breshears came to Portland as soon as they heard the news and spent a lot of time with Mommy & Daddy while Jackson was sleeping and while he was in surgery. It was nice to have so much support!

Pre-Surgery with Daddy
Parker was so supportive and concerned during Jackson's stay at the hospital. I cannot express how grateful I am to have such a wonderful husband! He is the best Dad in the whole world and Jackson loves him so much!

Funny Story - this outfit turned pink... oops!
When you have a husband who tries so hard in everything that he does, it is nearly impossible to get upset or frustrated when he falls short of perfection once in a blue moon. Well, Parker changed the laundry while I was at school and washed one of my favorite outfits (of Jackson's) with a red placemat that had never been washed before. Oops! He didn't see the placemat... it just snuck in there. We tried all sorts of funny methods to pull the red out, but nothing worked. So sad! Parker felt awful, but it all turned out okay. (Obviously, these pictures were taken before the big oops.)

Maddie & Jackson, Bathy, & Puppy Towel
Maddie & Jackson together. My sister offered to come down for a week each month to babysit Jackson while Parker and I are in school. It is such a blessing and a huge help!

"There's not enough water, Mommy... it's cold!"
I love this little puppy towel. Obviously, I still need to find a good place for some of Jackson's books.

Daddy & Jackson with Matching Pens in their pockets
Parker always carries a Zebra pen in his pocket... he claims they are the best. (For those who don't know, it's a brand, not an animal.) Anyway, he has some small ones too and so he thought it was cute to put one in Jackson's pocket. I had to take a picture.

Birth Announcement Photo Shoot - One Week Old
We had a busy Sunday. Knowing that school would resume full-force and that I still did not have all of my energy back yet, we took some pictures for Jackson's birth announcements today.
We got some really cute ones, so I'm happy that is one more thing off of my to-do list. It is so fun to have Jackson in our family. We are having fun playing house and trying to do everything correctly. He is such an easy baby... nice for us as we are learning together.

One Week Old... on a Sunday afternoon
After church, we went for a walk. Since I am still recovering, Parker thought he should be the one to carry Jackson. He looks so little next to his Daddy.
Jackson with his friend, Payton, who is 2.

Still so small... 6 days old
Jackson with Uncle Nick
Jackson with Uncle Taylor
Jackson, Daddy, and Stephanie
It is fun to have visitors, but also hard to give up time holding Jackson knowing that I will be in school about 40 hours a week beginning tomorrow.

Jackson, 4 Days Old
I know that I am camera happy, but we have grandparents who are dying to see pictures, and I don't want to miss a minute! Then, I take so many and think they're all cute, so I can't narrow down which to share and which not to. (Believe it or not, I feel guilty on the days that I don't take a picture... I'm sure I will get over this eventually.)
